the
most disappointing rappers
- kanye
west. he released three amazing cds then had to ruin it by releasing
an album where he SINGS.
- common
sense. solid first two cds of straight up classic hiphop but then he
decided to make watered-down neosoul with erykah badu and the roots.
- public
enemy. jumped on the rock/rap bandwagon and never looked back.
- top
quality. i loved his debut cd but he got mixed up with the EpMd feud
and disappeared.
- k-Solo.
same fate as Top Quality, except i have two great K-solo cds and not
one.
- Yaggfu
Front. awesome 1994 debut but then decided to take EIGHT YEARS to release
their follow-up.
- volume
10. one and done.
- Saafir.
one and done.
- two
kings in a cipher. i have the definition of a king ep and i
love it. never heard from them again.
- Nubian
Crackers. loved do you wanna hear
it. got anything else?
- Lakim
Shabazz. Lost Tribe of Shabazz was a great song, but i never
heard anything else.
- The
Goats. two good CDs and then they disappeared.
- Laquan.
Now it's the B turn.... and that's it.
- Chi-Ali.
released a decent/good debut, despite his voice not changing yet. then he
shot someone and went to jail.
- Cool
C. the glamorous life is one of my all-time fav songs. but then
he shot someone and he's on death row now.
- Big
L. i first heard him on Showbiz and AG's debut. but Big L was murdered
before he could become a star.
- Slick
Rick. arguably my fav rapper growing up. classic debut album. but then
he did a driveby shooting, got locked up, and almost was deported back to
England, so he made music with any spare moment when he was not in court/jail.
... and it had an effect on his music. nevertheless i still love his second
cd, i dont care what anyone says.
- Brand
Nubian. their debut was perfect. their lineup was perfect. ... and
then Grand Puba left and nothing was ever the same.
- Large
Professor. i love Extra P so it pains me to put him on this list. but
i bought EPs for Mad Scientist, ijustwannachill, and then i
heard his classic collaboration with Pete Rock, The Rap World... and
this got me all excited for his album, The LP. The LP album
was never released despite being one of the most anticipated rap albums ever.
- Main
Source. one and done. their one was a classic though.
- Down
South. produced by the Beatnuts, and southern comfort was a
great first single. but they were one and done, and the album wasn't as good
as the single.
- Kurious
Jorge. one and done. fun album was produced by the Beatnuts, which
is always good, but the album was diminished by a bunch of silly skits.
etc, etc... lol. i could
continue this all day.
